This capacitor incorporates an overpressure interrupt, safety mechanism which renders the capacitor open circuit. In the event of an internal rise in pressure due to a thermal or voltage overload event or due to increased levels of self-healings at the end of life, the housing will expand, in the lid (upper) area, resulting in a severing of the internal connections to the capacitor elements, creating a permanent open condition.

Use flexible cable connections and ensure a minimum of 20mm clearance above the capacitor to allow for housing expansion. It is advisable, where multiple capacitors are used, to allow 20mm typical clearance between capacitors to allow for effective cooling (application dependent).

Note: Good work practices must be employed during installation to ensure the integrity of the screw connections. Maintenance inspections should include an assessment of screw connections to ensure connection integrity, as screws may loosen during operation due to thermal and vibration loads.

  • Tolerance of ±3% and ±5% are available upon request

  • Cylindrical aluminum housing with plastic terminal block, metallized polypropylene, dry construction

Voltage Rating

  • VAC: 450VAC to 900VAC
  • VDC: 650VDC to 1300VDC

Dielectric Strength

Capacitors withstand a DC potential of 1.5 x Rated Voltage for one (1) minute without damage or breakdown. Test voltage is applied and discharged through a minimum resistance of 1 OHM per volt minimum.

Dissipation Factor

Polypropylene has an intrinsic dissipation factor of less than 2.1 x 10-4 over the operating temperature range of -55°C to +105°C and frequencies to 1MHz.
